The night tour along Jinjiang has new additions! Don’t miss these 5 artistic installations during the National Day holiday. The National Day holiday is approaching, and Jinjiang Park has new attractions! On September 23, a reporter from Red Star News, Chengdu Jinjiang Greenway Group announced that as a new night tour scene in Chengdu, the Jinjiang night tour route has added several artistic installations, filling the atmosphere with cultural and artistic vibes. There are also giant panda designs, a favorite of Chengdu people, which will bring citizens and tourists a brand-new night tour experience. "The newly unveiled artistic installations this time were selected from 377 works submitted by creators from 23 countries and regions around the world through the special event 'Rhythm of Jinjiang – Chengdu Urban Life Art Season' in September last year. Currently, the first batch of installations has made their debut," said a relevant person in charge of Chengdu Jinjiang Greenway Group. These new check-in spots, full of charm and unique design heritage, have entered the trial operation stage. During the National Day holiday, taking a cruise on the Jinjiang River will allow you to experience these artistic works with Sichuan charm and international style firsthand!
▲ Art Installation "Chengdu Balance" Spot 1: Living Water Park – "Chengdu Balance"** Bamboo-weaved "panda" looks adorable under the night Recently, near Living Water Park, many observant citizens have noticed a giant panda figure walking on a "tightrope" across the Jinjiang River. This is the newly launched art installation – "Chengdu Balance". According to the Red Star News reporter, "Chengdu Balance" was created by Liu Yang, the chief designer of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games medal "Gold Inlaid with Jade" and winner of the IALD International Association of Lighting Designers Award of Excellence, and was crafted by Yang Longmei, a national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Daoming bamboo weaving. The bamboo-weaved "panda" on the tightrope sways in the wind, showing an adorable posture. When night falls, the "panda" emits a soft light, presenting flowing changes in colors and light. The author incorporated his thoughts and praise for Chengdu's park city construction into the work, aiming to explore the balance between nature and humanity, tradition and modernity, technology and art, ecology and development. Spot 2: Living Water Park – "Source of Life"** The design team's works have been selected for world-class light festivals many times ONGA Artful Light, the design team of "Source of Life", has 15 years of experience in creative lighting design for urban lighting, exhibitions, light festivals, and light installations. Their light sculpture installations have been selected for world-class light festivals such as the Sydney International Light Festival. Life originated from the vast ocean, and the Chinese character "海 (sea)" is composed of "人 (person)", "水 (water)", and "母 (mother)". Water is extremely precious in our lives.
▲ "Source of Life" With water droplets as the theme, the designers conceived this light sculpture work. By simulating the scene of water droplets falling, visitors can watch the flowing light and hear the sound of water flowing. This aims to arouse people's attention to water conservation and protection, encouraging everyone to think about the importance of every drop of water. Spot 3: Wuchengmen Bridge – TANGRAM** Tangram vividly simulates the 12 Chinese zodiac signs
▲ Art Installation TANGRAM on Wuchengmen Bridge Artist Angelo Bonel used the form of tangram on Wuchengmen Bridge to simulate the patterns of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs. The work TANGRAM realizes the changes in light intensity, color, and dynamics through programming. Under the bridge, the water waves flow with vitality, and time flows like this, day and night. The artist chose the bridge as the carrier of art because the bridge is a place of convergence, connecting every moment. We can observe the traces of time from the bridge. At the same time, the images will jump and change with the gurgling flow of the river, as if the river is flowing with time, evoking pedestrians' emotions towards time and blending the gap between reality and virtuality. Spot 4: Jiuyanqiao Sluice – "Sound Museum"** Light moves with sound, and the melodious boat songs echo in the ears "Sound Museum", co-created by two designers Zhang Fangyu and Li Kun, is a combination of Chengdu's historical rhythm and modern light, an immersive interactive installation integrating laser and music. In Jiuyanqiao Sluice, modern music evolves into sounds of Chengdu's representative musical instruments and bustling noises. The light on both sides also blends and converges here. Music and light jointly create a sluice space full of the feeling of "a noisy famous city, with flute and sheng簧 (a reed pipe wind instrument) playing".
▲ "Sound Museum"
When visitors enter the "Sound Museum" installation, they will hear the melodious boat songs of Shu, loud nursery rhymes, and the sounds of Chengdu's streets in their ears, while seeing the light structure formed by the interweaving of light and light beams. Light moves with sound, and sound changes with light. The creators linked the light beams generated by lasers with music. Along with the rhythm of the music, the light beams keep flickering, converging, and rearranging. The combination of sound and light endows the sluice with new scenery and vitality.
Spot 5: Xinhua Bridge – Glazed Rhinoceros Beasts**
Carrying the wisdom of ancestors, the new "mythical beasts" continue to guard the Jinjiang River
Chengdu once had a legend about the "Tianfu Stone Rhinoceros", which records the story of Li Bing casting a stone rhinoceros to suppress floods.
Today, artist Yan Lei recast the rhinoceros beasts with copper on Xinhua Bridge and endowed them with a new posture and spirit. The mythical beasts on Xinhua Bridge embody the ancestors' wish for a peaceful world and carry the wisdom and willpower of the predecessors in water control, "blazing roads through mountains and building bridges across waters". Thus, several glazed rhinoceros beasts guarding the Jinjiang River and the happy life of citizens have been added to the Jinjiang River.
The image of the rhinoceros beast comes from the river under the bridge. It embodies the wisdom and willpower of the ancestors, and time and space have once again contributed to its generosity and brightness. |
